    Freedom of Speech

    In most parts of the World I would agree we have freedom of speech. Where we are headed I feel this will end in my lifetime if something is  not done. If we are silenced due to ( on here I believe it is the moderators due  to legal Fears. Right or wrong the fear from financial doom is real.) Political Correctness, Hate, Fear, and the list could go on and on. We will not have a place to speak out on anything. This is how Hong Kong lost. Little by Little. Until China is not seen as two separately run Countries...

    This has been creeping into our Society slowly. But with very little resistance to things most of us would consider not so important. It may come to pass and all this is just wasted space. But just because you do not like a person or something they have to say. Do not allow them to be silenced. If you or someone else can not debate their position and show a reason not to believe or listen to them. Maybe it is time to listen to them. Freedom of the written word dates back to the days of the written word.

    And where would we be today without the written word.

    至 divedog1960 : Sadly, brother, I don't think young people do much reading these days.   Most I know, are faces in their phones.

    至 toppschlong : I just hope people wake up and read not just the recent books. But History of our forefathers and why they did and felt like they did. Or look into the History of Europe after WWII. We know not what we have till we loose it.

    If the water is set just right, that the heat creeps up low enough, the frog wont realize its being boiled to d eath little by little... until its too late.

    One of my neighbors was at the 1/6 seems there were just a few  problem people. Things got out of hand. But his side of the story was much different than that of the Press. Sad that a few did so much damage. Yet we all had to pay for it.

    I wrote this after I got Blocked for some simple things. ( I do not remember what I said. But it was non offensive to anyone) I felt this was Heavy handed considering at the time so much was much worse on this site. Then our stories got Mass Deleted.

    至 MPLSbiGUY : WOW.. Very Sorry to hear that. Our homeless here has driven me to sell a really nice building. I could not open the doors without some homeless clown trying to walk in. And I can not even count the amount of times I  had to clean up their Poop on or in front of the building. They would leave the place a Mess with all their trash, shopping carts they stole, and I had to move a Mattress from the front door so I could get in one morning. Got to the point I would call the PD and the Dispatch woman would recognize my name and voice. After years of this I just gave up. Such a nice location just off the interstate very near a ramp. Places to eat close by.

    至 divedog1960 : Yup.  Minneapolis/St. Paul was a beautiful place, after the riots and the COVID it's truly sad what is happening here.

    至 MPLSbiGUY : I had family working there in the early 80's I spent a couple weeks there in early spring. I like the area. very clean and such a pretty downtown.. from what I saw on the news this year that is all gone?? Such a shame.

    至 divedog1960 : It's a mess in Minneapolis too and it's cold.  Lots of homeless and our downtown looks like Detroit - empty.  There are two things going on: before COVID the US economy was collapsing and our environment is collapsing.  Our corporate government is redesigning both areas to profit even more.   Look into Agenda 21.

    至 MPLSbiGUY : I agree. Many in this state use " Something" to help them Cope with life. I use a Drug as a Need may arise... Like if I am SICK.  I would agree with you on the Covid  thing. We have been shut down for the most part close to a Year. It has wiped so many of the small Business along with jobs. Eating establishments have changed to take out. Hotels are hard hit and in many places the Homeless are now using the empty rooms with the state picking up the bills. I live near the Southern Border and this is Scary.

    As long as the discourse is civil and is not advocating violence, fine.  As Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes said, "You can't yell FIRE in a crowded theatre" to express "free speech."  Context is important.  Context of words. Context of time.

    至 divedog1960 : I'm always surprised when Californians claim that they live in the most "liberal" state in the union.  The freedom of smoking pot isn't what makes a liberal state - it's how the people can live freely.   I really believe COVID is being used to redesign the economy and government.

    至 divedog1960 : The issue is that people won't speak out or try to find common bonds that will bring this country together.   Until people understand that we only have a one party system and the choices we get to vote for are already picked for us nothing will change.
