Valentina Nappi's Dream (2012)
Valentina's Dream.
Her name is Valentina Nappi, she is 21 years old, from Pompeii, and studies design at university. But her professional future does not see her as a furniture designer or interior decorator: her dream is to become a porn star, a profession in which she has already done some testing in the company of Rocco Siffredi, the powerful star of the Italian porn firmament and universal However, the young promise of pornography does not only have, as she claims, a professional interest:
"Dream of porn - she says - that occupies a very prominent place in the world of culture. Great porn should have no less dignity than great architecture or great design.”
She also asserts that he has a somewhat fauve lifestyle. Fauvism is style of painting that flourished in France around the turn of the 20th century. Fauve artists used pure, brilliant colour aggressively applied straight from the paint tubes to create a sense of an explosion on the canvas. Nappi says that "the fiery colors of my sexuality are the colors of Matisse, the Sacre du printemps or Positano".
These are admirable thoughts that can be found on the artist's blog, under a name that I won't say but that translated from Italian would be 'on the tip of the nipple'. She also asserts, in an interview, that she likes to think that her Neapolitan blood is the same as that of the ancients, and that at that time Pompeii meant refinement, hedonism, lust.
The lady explains the genealogy of a dream like this: "December 2009. Girona. evening Taxi to Roses, Cala Montjoi, Restaurant El Bulli. Start of dinner. Head-on collision with the most powerful emotions that a contemporary human practice can procure. It is the beginning, for me, of a crucial line of evolution, which will lead me to be the young woman I am, proudly dedicated to an activity whose relevance is unfairly unknown or misunderstood: pornography. It starts here: from El Bulli, from Ferran Adrià. I had never thought that 'food things' could give so much. And yet, he did not have an 'idealistic' conception of aesthetic hierarchies: he already detested the cultural racism typical of a run-down high school of letters, he loved craftsmanship, he never failed to emphasize the cognitive content of tailoring technique or aspects much more than a certain fashion 'dressmaker', which was among other things my main interest. But I like deconstructions when they are 'powerful', that is to say, sustained by strong needs and endowed with fruitful consequences, as for example the deconstruction of the Kantian concepts of space and time by the work of Einstein... Also the deconstruction carried out by Adrià has been a 'powerful' deconstruction, which derives from irrevocable logical and poetic needs. My dream about pornography was born from the experience, for me dazzling, of Adrià's kitchen... There is the problem of the diffuse recognition of the (human, emotional) devaluation of a non-private sexuality and not for taste or hobby. It's a bit like saying that real cooking is for loved ones, while professional cooking for an audience of strangers is a human aberration... A fine craft of sexual pleasure is possible, or is it enough to satisfy the hungry?... Is it a delusion of mine, or perhaps it is only a ridiculous dream?”
Valentina, therefore, has not only studied art and design, but also philosophy. And, like Saint Paul on the road to Damascus, she had a dazzling revelation that showed her the path of the apostle. Which seems to me first-rate, given the reasoning and its practical application, publicly and in front of the cameras.
It is an unusual vocation, but perhaps not so much in a country where Cicciolina sat in parliament, and where Mrs. Vladímir Luxúria, a famous transsexual with a very suggestive name, is also a member of parliament. I don't know what Ferran Adrià must think about it.
