First, I want to make you come in my hand
while I watch you and kiss you, and if you cry,
I’ll drink your tears while, with my whole hand, I
hold your drenched loveliness contracting. And
after a breath, I want to make you full
again, and wet. I want to make you come
in my mouth like a storm. No tears now. The sum

Well. Thank you. I am not usually a consumer of poetry, but between periodic tastes in the Atlantic and your posts, I may come out of my prose wilderness. I will definitely have to look for more of Hacker's work. I was peripherally aware of her because at one point she had been married to Samuel R. Delany, the eccentric African American science fiction and fantasy novelist, who since moved on to write other literary fiction and primarily gay erotica. His later science fiction works, such as "Dhalgren," telegraphed that shift in theme and focus. He has also since held a number of academic positions in the field of literature. Given the complications of their intertwined lives, and how they have both identified more or less exclusively as gay and lesbian since the end of their 19 year marriage, you have to wonder who may have influenced the other more. But the connections are always interesting.
