Friends not visible as friends

I have been wondering lately. I have a lot of wonderful friends on here. Normally when I visit their pages I see the message "<friendsname> is your friend". Lately I noticed that text missing with some of my friends.
Did they de-friend me?
Did I de-friend them?
No, I doon't think so because I still see their posts and status changes pop up in My news.

I think I have found the common factor between those friends that are not shown as my friend in their profile. They have disabled "Invite to friends".
Does that sound plausible?
A small bug in XRMXX?

i've also noticed that someone i had removed from my friends list, suddenly showing up in the 'News Feed'. i *think* [and we all know how dangerous that can be at times] that when You friend someone, it automatically 'Subscribes' to their account activity as well. ... which is why, their 'News Feed' was still active, even tho.... i had removed them from my friends list. i had to manually 'Unsubscribe'. it was just a personal hard limit i have, when suddenly seeing pictures of needles stuck through the head of a Cock, that totally freaks me out.
