If you're reading this you've found my profile and noticed my love of Japanese Adult Video. I'll do a brief blog about what I find positive in JAV in a later entry. However, my point here: there's more to my affection for All Things Japanese than some pornographic films. I'd hate for any country to be judged or fetishized based on its erotica alone.

I'm not going to go into too much detail, but let me say this. Over the course of my life I have had the good fortune to work with and to befriend a number of Japanese nationals who lived and worked in New York City during a certain period of years. In addition, a family member worked for a large Japanese corporation for many years as a General Manager, Senior Vice-President. So, again, other points of contact both professional and personal grew from that.

So, if you, like me, love JAV don't let it be some kind of "yellow fever" cultural fetish. Love your Japanese porn, sure, but please don't stop there. Fall in love with the place and you'll be ever further rewarded. I urge you to go further and learn more about Japan and the Japanese people.

I'll try to add more to this over time. Any comments or suggestions are always welcome.

As my wife told me in Mandarin, (she has just started learning English), 'yellow fever" is often just reverberations from a previous life...

dlcalguy : Thank you so much your informative comment, I have seen some "Shunga" art in the past and someone around here has a nice gallery of some images, there's also this website at the British Museum -- http://www.britishmuseum.org/whats_on/exhibitions/shunga.aspx

With your permission, I might like to incorporate your explanation of the print I included within the text of the blog itself. Thanks for the read and comment.

This is one of the ten woodblock prints added to the original 36 in the Hokusai series "36 views of Mt Fuji".
It is called "Dawn at Isawa in Kai Province".
I'm also a lover of Japanese art and design. My bedroom furniture includes antique Tansu chests and other unmistakably japanese pieces. And I have many reproductions of Hokusai, Hiroshige and Utamiro works on my walls. Sadly, no original prints: they're too expensive.
Anthony if you like Japanese woodblock prints AND porn... search for "Shunga" (Thank me later!)

mike0207 : Nope, never been. My family member, mentioned above was there many, many times. I feel like I have been there, but, no, as yet I've not been. The censorship is by law. There are good Wikipedia articles about it.

Have you ever been to Japan,or intend to go? It,s a pity that so many video's are censored, that's a turn off for me. Like to watch them though when they are uncensored.
