Campus Report Week 10
Before we get started in the name of sportsmanship I would like all readers to extend their hands respectfully ( wash em first fellas ) to the person across from them and shake hands before reading this week's post. On the count of 3 .. 1, 2, haha just k**ding http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HSfZafJSDUo. Yes those fearsome turtles are making friends all over the place in their 1st year in the BIGX throwing fuel on the fire of that longstanding rivalry between them & the Penn State Nittany Lions. Remember all those wars these 2 programs had in the past ?? You don't ? I do I'll go into it a little later but Penn State holds only a slight 35-2-1 advantage over turtle power in their matchups. Maryland was willing to sacrifice losing their best player for next week's matchup against Michigan St. in order to send a message in this instant classic game between the 2 middle of the pack conference foes. Since Stephan Diggs won't be able to shake hands before next week's game that means they'll be free to pull all the feet out of his teammates asses that the Spartans will be sure to leave behind. Elsewhere in college football.. The playoff picture is a little clearer with Ole Miss losing this weekend @ home to Auburn. Now that the Rebels have their 2nd loss of the year and have lost their best WR for the season, so it's safe to say that their chances have now evaporated. FSU keeps on winning.. Despite trailing Louisville for most of the game & Winston throwing 3int the Seminoles came back in the 4th Quarter to defeat the Cardinals 42-31. Are they as good as last year clearly not but clearly they know how to win football games and have taken everyone's best shot !! TCU my sleeper team outside the top 4 also had another impressive win this week. This time a come from behind win in a hostile environment in Morgantown against WVU. The rest of your top25 ...

Small School Ass Whippings - This week I thought I would take a look back the nip tuck rivalry between these schools on the Mason - Dixon line !!
November 17th 1917 Penn St. def. Maryland 57 - 0 : The 1st game between these 2 heated rivals gave us a classic that went down to the final whistle ( which I assume were made of wood back then )
November 15th 1969 Penn St. def. Maryland 48 - 0 : The turbulent 60's were ushered out by this back & forth affair between 2 College Football powerhouses. The game was in question until the 4th quarter until the Lions put the final nail in the coffin.
November 6th 1971 Penn St. def. Maryland 63 -27 : Disco wasn't the only thing grooving that day. So was the Nittany Lions offense to the tune of 63 points the most scored by one team at that time of the series.
November 9th 1991 Penn St. def. Maryland 47 - 7 : Right Said Fred was #1 on the charts, Curly Sue stole our hearts @ the box office & the Penn St. stole the spotlight again from their heated rivals.
October 2nd 1993 Penn St. def. Maryland 70 - 7 : In front of a less than enthused crowd in College Park MD , Penn St. exploited ... oops probably can't use that word & Penn St in the same sentence .. the Lions abused .. well that won't work either will it ? Ok lets try this for size the Lions rang up the most points in this series to date between the 2.
They didn't have no turtle power in my day !!

Top 5 Matchups this week
#9 Baylor @ #17 Oklahoma 12:00pm FoxSports 1 - We've heard this before two high powered BIGXII offenses blah blah blah ... While Baylor is still in control of their own destiny to capture the conference title the Sooners who have been surprisingly inconsistent this season still need help.
#8 Notre Dame @ #14 Arizona ST. 3:30pm ABC - I'll give it to the Irish this year their not ducking anyone. Question is will it payoff @ the end when the committee decides the 4 team playoff ? As for the Sundevils who are always tough at home a win over the Notre Dame could be a huge feather in their cap as they try to put together a late season surge to build their own playoff resume.
#10 Kansas St. @ #6 TCU 7:30pm FOX - How have the 1 loss Wildcats flown under the radar for this long ? They give up only 18pts per game tops in the BIGXII and that 1 loss was @ home to national champion contender Auburn. TCU will be home to welcome them with the most explosive offense in the country in this primetime conference clash.
#11 Ohio St @ # 7 Michigan St. 8:00pm ABC - The battle of the 2 best teams ok.. probably the only 2 good teams in the BIGX. The winner stays in the running for a final 4 playoff spot. The loser makes travel plans for the Capitol One Bowl in Jan. What's in your wallet ??
#5 Alabama @ #15 LSU 8:00pm CBS - Normally this game decides not only the winner of the SEC west but the winner also usually goes on to play for the national title. Those lofty goals are only in play for the Tide this year but don't think the Tigers wouldn't love to dash one of their biggest rivals dreams and also position themselves for a premier bowl game !!
And don't forget it's up to us to lead by example .. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uNbbY6HIOUA
