The unofficial beginner CD strategy guide
just a summary of quick tips to pass along to first time crossdressers who are just now getting into the swing of things :)
this is all based on my personal experience, and i have a reputation for being unreliable, so don't adhere to everything here religiously.
so most first timers usually ask me about removing body hair. I usually recommend using nair. im not against using razors but nair is quicker if you have alot of ground to cover. now theres a right way and wrong way to use nair, so don't try to sue me if you use it wrong and it burns you up. test it by putting a dab on a small area and dont rub it in! wait a few minutes and wipe it off with a hot damp towel. if it burns like hell and theres no hair removal, ehhh, stick to the razor and get a refund. and for goodness sake, dont use it on your face!
now you're as smooth as a newborn naked mole rat, and you're ready to try on those cute thigh high socks, with the matching bra and panties! with underwear or lingerie, you really can't go wrong! :3 if you want to enhance your figure, i recommend investing in a girdle or waist trainer, and eventually move up to a corset once you've mastered the art of moving about gracefully while being constricted. :P
now there comes a dark hour in all our lives in which we must acknowledge that just because it looked good on the model or mannequin doesn't necessarily mean it'll look good once we're in it. but do not let this discourage you!! thats not what its about! experiment! play around, mix n match until you find a look that speaks to you and is completely your own. - that is the spirit of crossdressing.
makeup techniques vary as much as the individuals putting it on. there's no such thing as a one size fits all approach to makeup application or techniques. again, this requires alot of trial and experimentation. One fool proof suggestion is to start off using shades, highlights and colors that compliment your natural complexion, and once your satisfied, adding to the look in any fashion you desire. its another one of those things you gotta play around with to get a feel for.
for reference, I usually use various shades of liquid and powder foundation, mascara, and a color palette for my eye shadow and blush, liquid eye liner, and a bright pink matte lip lacquer, with a layer of lip gloss over it.
and the fun part, accessories! accenting your look and giving it an extra brush of personality! buy those bangles or those stripey fingerless gloves, earrings - hoops or dangly. they make snap on earrings too if you dont wana get pierced. go ahead and get that wig you eyeballed passing the beauty supply store, order it online if you want, it might be cheaper :P big glitzy false eyelashes and nails, cant go wrong with those either! once more, play around and add some flair to complete your look!
essentially, crossdressing is all about having fun and experimenting, honing your craft, looking great AND MORE IMPORTANTLY feeling great while you're at it!! Bonus points if you can pair up with a partner to, ahem, explore and exchange notes :P
