Might be in the hospital awhile
I've got to keep this short and simple because I need to be lying down. This time last year I developed a severe staph infection on my belly and my thigh. Old friends probably remember me bitching about being in the hospital seven or eight days. It took me much longer to fully recover. A few days ago I noticed a spot where I had staph. I kept it clean, covered in antibiotic and bandaged. This morning I woke up and it's tripled in size.
I may get lucky and the damn wound will disappear overnight. However, most likely it will get bigger and hurt like hell in the morning. I have no insurance. My only option is the ER. They might not do a damn thing for me because I owe them a fortune and I don't have insurance. They may try to lance the wound in sterile conditions and send me home with a plethora of prescriptions for antibiotics. If you don't know anything about staph, just know that it is ungodly contagious. Most people develop a staph infection because they were exposed to it in a hospital. Staph is like mrsa. It is resistant to antibiotics.
They might admit me for IV antibiotics. It's a bad situation. I'll be in an isolation ward. i'll spare you the gory details of wound care. It took seven days for the culture from my wound to come back from the lab and they could diagnose me and release me. I think infection protocol means they have to know what I have before they release my contagious ass back into the public. I don't have a clue what will happen to me. I hope I don't get admitted. Sometimes bad shit happens. If you don't hear from me, please don't worry. I'll be fine. Things were just starting to be fun again for me online. I promise to pick up where I left off if I do spend time in the hospital.
