Back for the new term

Come September we all returned for our last compulsory year with the option to stay on for A levels if we and our parents wanted you to.
5th years weren't allocated our dorms until after lunch so we were stuck in the common room with our trunks and the chat was about what had happened in the holidays, where people had been and what had been done.

Derek said he would play as he was a good poker player.

I said "there is one problem I don't know how to play poker can I be taught easily?"

They had a brief chat they decided they could teach me but it would take a few weeks.

I said "well can't we play  'pick a card' and the lowest loses?" as the others seemed to want to play strip something.

All 3 said okay and accused me of having more clothes on than them.

The cards appeared and while Si shuffled Derek said that no one was to tell anyone about this ever.  As we were laughing Steve said he didn't think any of us would announce what we had played in the next day in chapel.

Si placed the cards on the table and we each took a card off the top.
